'Bae Ji-hwan 1-hit' Pittsburgh falls to Cubs, snaps 8-game losing streak

The Pittsburgh Pirates lost to the Chicago Cubs in a Major League Baseball game at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on June 21.

Joan Oviedo (PIT) and Marcus Stroman (CHC) started the game, and the Cubs jumped out to an early lead in the third inning. Tucker Barnhart hit his first solo home run of the season in the top of the third.


The Cubs added a run in the top of the fourth when Ian Happ tripled and Cody Bellinger drove in Happ with a sacrifice fly after Dansby Swanson walked to load the bases.


The Cubs scored a run in the top of the eighth on a Mike Tuckman solo shot, a Nico Horner triple, and a Seiya Suzuki sacrifice fly.


The Cubs got seven scoreless innings from starter Stroman, one scoreless inning from Mark Wright Jr. and one scoreless inning from Albert Alzorey.

Bae made eight appearances at second base on the day, going 0-for-2 with a walk and a strikeout. Bae is now batting .259 on the season.
